ONE OF THE MANY ACTIVITIES FOR VISITORS TO ENJOY on Roatan’s funky and fun East End is the Tiki Boat. This fun and goofy boat offers tourists a variety of experiences, from sunset dinner cruises to daylong boating and snorkeling adventures.
And, it was just announced, the Tiki Boat has been honored with a
Tripadvisor Traveler’s Choice Award. And, after just one look at the reviews, you’ll see why.
“Don’t miss this if you are in Roatan!” reported one reviewer who gave the Tiki Boat experience
a 5-star rating. “This is one of the best excursions I have been on in the Caribbean. First, there is the boat. It’s like a really large pontoon boat with a built-in tiki bar, snacks, and great music. Second are all the fun stops. We had a really good snorkeling stop which was right by the reef wall. You could hang out in the 20 to 30-foot depths or swim over to the wall and see the 200-foot drop-off.”
The Tiki Boat is an adventure pass to much of the East End. It’s a great way to see this quiet corner of Roatan, all while enjoying cocktails, music and learning a bit of the East End’s unique history, which stretches back more than 500 years.
Operated by local entrepreneur Abrian Campbell, who also offers tours of the East End’s incredible mangrove mazes carved by pirates and privateers centuries ago, the Tiki Boat offerings give visitors a “cheat code” to Roatan — from its ample deck, cocktail in hand, you can literally see most of the East End.
Add it snorkeling stops or a very unique opportunity to swim with lemon sharks at Pigeon Cay, and it’s no wonder the Tiki Boat is considered a “must-see” attraction for guests staying at
Ocean Breeze Villa.
And, of course, guests at the Villa need only take a few steps out of the main house to the dock on the lagoon, where they’ll meet the boat. Once on board, the rum and beer starts to flow and the music kicks up. If you were struggling to find that “vacation vibe,” you’ll be struggling no more.
You can book any number of tours from Ocean Breeze Villa. The East End is definitely more authentic and less “tourist” than the West End, but, without much effort at all, you’ll be able to find something to do that will keep you entertained. From guided fishing and diving, visits to the local iguana farm or the sloth and monkey rescue center, adventure is literally just a short boat ride or taxi ride away.
And, as always, no resort wristbands required!
